Introduction to the Mariah Letters

About nine years ago I met a writer named Jack Dround on an Internet poetry site. After participating on the site with other writers in a group, Jack and I agreed that we would each take on a persona and write a series of letters from our respective personas. We didn’t discuss what we were going to write and our regular emails were between two writers discussing poetry. We knew we would never meet and that was never an issue because these prose poems were always intended to stay within the parameters of the poem and never acted out in “real life.” Jack lives somewhere on the east coast and that’s all I know about him. Over the years we exchanged very few personal emails. We are no longer in touch and no longer write poetry together. He gave me permission to publish his poems which are initially signed D and later, Emile.
